 8-Bromo-1-octanol is an important synthetic raw material for natural products such as insect pheromones and prostaglandins.8-Bromo-1-octanol is mostly prepared by monohalogenation reaction of diol,industrial production of 8-bromo-1-octanol is affected by factors such as incomplete monohalogenation of diols,difficulty in selectivity,and easy formation of multiple substitutions.It is necessary and important to develop one production process with higher yield,lower cost and lower pollution.In this paper 1,8-octanediol was used as the starting material to prepare8-bromo-1-octanol.Factors such as halogen reagents,solvent selection,reaction temperature,reaction time,solvent recovery,and how to realize industrial batches were studied in this paper.1,8-Octanediol and toluene were first added to the reaction vessel at a mass ratio of 1:15,the heating temperature risedd to 95℃,and the hydrobromic acid was1:1 molar ratio after heating to total dissolution.A mass fraction of 40% hydrobromide aqueous solution is heated under reflux for about 20 hours,and about 0.2 equivalent of hydrobromic acid is added to the reaction system,and after the reaction is kept for 2 hours,0.2 equivalent of hydrobromic acid is further added.The reaction was kept for 2 hours,and the reaction conversion rate is above 92%,and the product purity is above 95%.The quality of 8-bromo-1-octanol and main impurities obtained in the process were studied.The process conditions were proved to be stable and reproducible after pilot scale-up and industrial trial production.This method is simple in operation,low in cost and high in yield,which has not been reported in the literature at present and is an important innovation of this paper.Solvent recovery was also studied by means of phase separation and distillation in this paper.The solvent recovery ratio of the first time can be reached 80%,and after retreatment of the solvent residue,the recovery ratio of the solvent toluene can be raised up to 98%.The sythesis process of this paper is simple and easy to carry out with lower cost and higher recovery of solvent.
